IT'S ABOUT REAL CONNECTIONS

ABOUT THE FILM

Kaz doesn’t talk much—but behind his secondhand DSLR, he sees everything.

New to town, he’s pulled into a gang of prankster misfits led by the magnetic and mildly terrifying Blood Orange, who treats chaos like art. With his mother clinging too tight and a home full of silence, Kaz wants to belong to something, anything. But just as he begins to find real friendship—especially with the wannabe-rapper Pineapple—he’s faced with a final “mission” that risks destroying everything. It’s simple: one photo, one scandal, and instant infamy. But Kaz starts to wonder if blowing things up is the only way to feel seen.

A darkly funny coming-of-age story about fragile masculinity, adolescent power games, and the quietest kid in the room realizing his voice is the loudest weapon he’s got.

CREATION

This short film is being shot in Vancouver, BC — a city known for its cultural diversity and as a common landing place for immigrant families. The story is a true reflection of the experience of being a child of immigrants, inspired by personal experiences and real people. We aim for the film to feel both deeply local and globally resonant, capturing the essence of the international community within Vancouver.

One of the major inspirations behind the project is the experience of "third culture kids" — children who grow up in a culture different from that of their parents, shaped by both their heritage and their current environment. This often creates a unique, blended identity, but can also lead to feelings of displacement, as they struggle to fully belong in either culture. Through this film, we hope to explore the complexities, contradictions, and beauty of this in-between experience.

THANKS TO OUR SPONSORS

This film would not be possible without the Vancouver film community. Thank you so much for the support. We are eternally grateful for your dedication to art and to amplifying voices in the community.
